Professional Woodwinds Educator
Nathan is a flutist, piccoloist, and composer currently enrolled at Cypress College, with plans to transfer to Cal Poly Pomona to pursue a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering along with a minor in music.
He began playing the flute in sixth grade and quickly became an active member of his school’s music programs, participating in both concert and jazz bands throughout middle school. At Los Alamitos High School, Nathan continued his musical involvement in marching band and jazz band, serving as flute section leader and performing on piccolo during his senior year.
In his teaching, Nathan emphasizes strong technical foundations, helping students develop control, tone, and musical clarity. He has a thoughtful approach to explaining how the instrument works while guiding students to better understand breath support, tone production, and the nuances that shape a refined sound. His lessons are structured yet approachable, allowing students to build confidence while making steady progress.
Nathan is known for his professionalism and reliability, consistently showing up prepared and on time for every lesson. He builds strong, positive relationships with his students, creating an environment where they feel comfortable, supported, and motivated to learn.
In addition to teaching and performing, Nathan has been passionate about composing music since middle school. He enjoys exploring a wide range of genres and released his first full-length album in 2023.
