Professional Brass & Piano Educator

A versatile educator and performer, Taylor has built a career in music education, as well as in orchestra, jazz, and musical theater performance. While in Arizona, he performed regularly with organizations including The Phoenix Symphony, Arizona Ballet, Salt River Brass Band, The Phoenix Theater Company, and Arizona Broadway Theatre. A career highlight includes serving as lead trumpet for Josiel Perez’s Afro Latin Jazz Ensemble and performing alongside Mariano Morales in featured performances at the Chandler Jazz Festival. Since establishing himself in New York, Taylor has performed in renowned venues including New York City Center, Alice Tully Hall, and the DiMenna Center for Classical Music.

As an educator, Taylor is enthusiastic about teaching students of all ages across a variety of musical styles. He prides himself on his ability to encourage his students and adapt lesson materials and plans to their needs. During his time in Phoenix, Taylor maintained a successful private trumpet studio, and over the summer he serves as a faculty teaching artist at Iron County Band Camp in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, where he teaches music theory, leads brass sectionals, and provides private instruction for middle and high school students. His experience as a Teaching Assistant at the Brevard Jazz Institute has further strengthened his ability to teach jazz performance and improvisation, giving students a strong foundation in both classical and contemporary styles.
