Alyssa is a skilled singer who has devoutly studied the human voice for over a decade. Her vocal technique is predominantly rooted in Manuel Garcia’s Bel Canto School of Singing, a dynamic method that can be applied to any genre of music. Beyond her experience as a performer, Alyssa also draws upon more than five years of experience working in child education.

While pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology at UCLA, Alyssa continued to be a fervent student to the voice, and received instruction and guidance from the late Alise Richel Adler at the Bel Canto Voice Studio in Los Angeles. With Miss Richel-Adler, she acquired her fundamental vocal technique that was passed down from the great educators of La Scala and the Metropolitan Opera.  The Bel Canto technique, Italian for beautiful singing, fortifies a pure tone of the voice, mastery of the breath, a balance of vocal agility and pitch accuracy, and artful musicianship. Once these skills are developed, a student has at their disposal all the tools necessary to create music from the writings of a composer or songwriter.

Bel Canto uses a scientific approach to unveil the mysteries of the human voice and organize them into one concise, attainable technique. This school of singing studies how facets of the human vocal anatomy operate in physics, to better understand where sound is produced and how it travels through the body.  Her understanding of the human voice is fortified by her UCLA education where she studied vertebrate morphology and acoustic physics as an undergraduate.

As an educator, Alyssa has been working with children and adults alike for over 5 years. She was on the Staff of Education at UCLA’s HOOLIGAN theatre company for 2 years, where she provided fine arts education to the UCLA undergraduate population in singing and acting. She also was a voice teacher in SLAM! @ UCLA, where she provided voice lessons to students of underserved middle schools in the Los Angeles area.

She now studies at the HB Studio, where she learns the acting techniques of Uta Hagen under the instruction of Lorraine Serabian.  She is a lifelong learner, constantly seeking to make as close contact as possible with truth, emotional expression, and the human experience.  She believes singing is one of the finest forms of human abstraction, and wants to help each student discover their own beauty and wise expression through the music that rings from their own human body, a real instrument of such magnificent architecture and tone.
