Elijah A.

Professional Brass Educator

Elijah is a trombonist and composer born in the Los Angeles area. In his early education, he played with and learned from fixtures of the Los Angeles jazz scene, such as Ryan Porter and George Bohanan. An avid arranger and composer in all styles, Elijah also studied under Andrew Norman, Thomas Kotcheff, and the late Sarah Gibson through the Los Angeles Philharmonic Barry and Nancy Sanders Composer Fellowship. Following the completion of his undergraduate degree in Jazz Performance at the Eastman School of Music in New York, Elijah is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Jazz Studies at the University of Southern California.

In addition to performing and composing, Elijah is deeply passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of brass musicians. He especially enjoys working with young artists who are genuinely enthusiastic about music-making, helping them develop both their technical skills and their artistic voice while fostering a lifelong love of playing.
