Ryan J.

Professional Strings & Music Theory Educator

Ryan is a violinist and conductor in San Diego currently completing his bachelors degree at UC San Diego, where he has served as concertmaster for multiple orchestras and has acquired extensive experience in both chamber music and orchestral performance. He has performed major symphonic repertoire including works by Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, Brahms, Mahler, Elgar, and Stravinsky, and has amassed a long list of chamber music performances as well, including works by Shostakovich, Dvorak, Schubert, Mendelssohn, and Brahms.

Beginning in Fall 2026, Ryan will attend San Diego State University to pursue a Master’s degree in Orchestral Conducting. Alongside his graduate studies and his continued musical endeavors at UCSD, he currently performs as a violinist with the La Jolla Symphony & Chorus and the San Diego Philharmonic. His background as a performer and conductor gives him a strong understanding of ensemble playing, communication, and technical development from the eyes of both a student and a teacher. He is also actively studying viola, further expanding his knowledge base and musical experience. As a teacher, Ryan focuses on building strong fundamentals while helping students develop confidence, musicality, and (most of all) a genuine enjoyment for music. He has experience leading orchestra sectionals, conducting symphonic orchestras, coaching chamber ensembles, and mentoring younger musicians.
