Sam S.

Professional Music Production Educator

Sam is a producer, artist, and multi-instrumentalist with over a decade of experience creating music across a wide spectrum of genres. Beginning his journey in FL Studio before expanding into Logic Pro, and especially Ableton Live, Sam has developed a comprehensive understanding of modern and retro music production, from composition and arrangement to advanced mixing/mastering, sound design, subtractive, FM, and modular synthesis.

His work has received recognition from Warner Records, Chance the Rapper, Concord Music Group, the GRAMMY Museum, and BLK ODYSSY. At the age of 13, he was hired to work for a producer associated with Madonna and produced many songs for respected underground artists generating millions of streams. Currently, Sam studies Professional Music at Berklee College of Music in Boston, majoring in production, performance, and music business.

As a multi-instrumentalist, his strong foundation in music theory, classical and jazz piano, rhythm from studying drums, and electric bass/guitar brings a musician’s perspective to the technical side of production. His experience spans electronic music, hip-hop, R&B/Neo Soul, Jazz, Rock, and experimental/avant-garde styles, allowing him to help students understand not only how to excel in any style of production, but how to develop a unique artistic voice in the process.

Whether teaching a beginner opening their first DAW or an experienced musician looking to expand their sonic palette, Sam encourages attention to detail, curiosity, and the idea that great production comes from understanding both the rules of music and how to break them.
